The term "deepfake" is derived from the combination of "deep learning" and "fake." Deepfake technology uses deep neural networks, particularly generative adversarial networks (GANs), to generate realistic-looking content. GANs consist of two neural networks – a generator and a discriminator – that work together to create and evaluate synthetic data.
